What to Do When You See a Snake

Are you afraid of snakes? Very few people would call an encounter with a snake pleasant even if it’s just a harmless grass snake. Unexpectedly coming face-to-face with a snake can be a scary experience. There are some specific signs that can help you to distinguish whether the snake is venomous or not. Herpetologists explain specific differences between venomous and non-venomous snakes. However, there are so many species of snakes in the world that there can be certain exceptions. Nevertheless, these are some general differences that you should be aware of. At Bright Side, we’ve decided to share these signs with you along with the pattern of behavior you need to follow in order to avoid dangerous consequences after an encounter with a venomous snake. TIMESTAMPS: Look at its head 1:19 Pay attention to its pupils 1:43 Examine the space between its eyes 2:26 Note its color and behavior 2:51 Observe its tail 3:22 Beware of the way it swims 3:50 Snake-proof your property 4:43 Pay attention to trees and bushes 5:10 Choose the right shoes 5:39 Turn off the lights 6:03 Never follow a snake 6:28 What to do in case you’ve been bitten 7:00 #venomoussnakes #snakebite #poisonoussnakes Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - One of the most obvious signs of a poisonous snake is its triangular head. Although not all venomous snakes have it, their necks are usually distinctly skinnier than their heads. - Most venomous snakes have elliptical and vertical pupils, while non-venomous snakes have round ones. But non-venomous snakes can easily change the shape of their pupils in dangerous situations to look more powerful and frightening to their opponent. - Venomous snakes have a little advantage over their non-venomous peers when it comes to hunting. They’ve got a heat-sensitive pit that helps them locate their prey through infrared radiation. - Poisonous snakes are often more vibrant, both in their coloring and behavior. If you see a beautiful bright-colored snake, chances are that it is, in fact, venomous. - You can always recognize a venomous snake by a visible line separating 2 rows of scales at the end of its tail. If you see a single row, you can sigh with relief: this snake is not venomous. - Some reptile experts say that a lot of the time, venomous snakes can be recognized while swimming. They prefer to keep their entire bodies visible above the water as opposed to non-venomous snakes that swim with their bodies under the water. - Whether you live in the country or you’ve got a summer cottage, the best way to keep snakes at bay is to get rid of their favorite hiding places: tall grass and fallen branches. - Always wear closed-toed shoes whenever you decide to take a walk in the country or the woods. - If you enjoy camping, here's a little trick for you to avoid snakes. Cover up all sources of light as you go to sleep, and never forget to shake your clothes out in the morning. - There are a lot of cases when people are bitten simply because of their curiosity. They only do it if they feel threatened, and stalking them will definitely provoke this reaction. - The first thing you must do is to call an ambulance. Once that’s done, try to figure out if it was a venomous snake that bit you. - As the ambulance is on its way, it’s crucial that you try to stay calm and don’t move. - As for the popular method of sucking the venom out of the wound, it may not be such a good idea after all. The person trying to suck the venom out, whether it’s you or someone else, risks cross-contamination through the mouth. TIMESTAMPS: Creepy 0:40 Hidden faces 1:37 A fair lady 2:35 Café wall illusion 3:22 The impossible triangle 4:57 Bicycle 6:00 Rubic’s cube 7:04 Chessboard 8:28 Upside down Steve Buscemi 9:14 Hermann Grid Illusion and Scintillating Grid Illusion 9:58 Boxes 12:20 #opticalillusion #visualillusion #vision Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Soy cantante no reconocida: By Dyan´s - Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=28201965 SUMMARY: - This is a famous drawing created in 1892 by Charles Allan Gilbert called "All Is Vanity." And depending on what you see first, it can come off as a little creepy. - If you found 10 faces hidden among the branches, then you're an extremely observant individual. Some say that these faces are actually those of famous public figures! - This gorgeous lady must be a ballerina. Otherwise, how does she keep rotating like that, with that much grace? But, we are here not to discuss her artistic skills. - The name of this illusion was inspired by a tiled wall of a café in Bristol. But I will tell you no more for now. Can you tell if the dark lines are parallel to each other or inclined? - The impossible triangle, also known as Penrose Triangle is called so because it could never exist in reality. If it did exist, it would be absolutely contrary to the rules of Euclidean geometry. - What makes the bicycle move? Obviously, the fact that the spokes in its wheels are rotating. Nah, it can’t be that easy when it comes to optical illusions. - It’s a Rubik’s cube! This optical illusion is based on anamorphosis. It is a form of perspective. - You can’t play any chess with this board because it’s moving all over the place. Or is it? You have 15 seconds to decide if the lines are rotating. - Can you tell what’s wrong with Steve Buscemi? I mean I hope Steve is perfectly fine, but can you tell what’s wrong with the second picture? - Look at this black square crisscrossed with perpendicular white lines. The white dots situated at the intersections of the grid shift their color from white to gray and back. - It takes one large box and one little box and some magic to make this illusion possible. How is it possible for the little box to be outside, inside and part of the large box at the same time? 10 Body Features Only 5% of People Have

All people in the world are different, and every one is unique. And yet some of us have rare features that occur in only a few percents of humans. Do you know anybody whose bones are harder than concrete? We are going to tell you about the most unusual and mind-blowing characteristics only a few people have. Some are just nice physical features, but there are those Superman himself would envy! TIMESTAMPS Incredibly dense bones 1:02 "Golden" blood 2:01 Long palmar muscle 2:50 Genetic chimerism 3:40 Double lash line 5:00 A hole near the ear 5:45 Additional ribs 6:29 Ability to perceive "invisible" colors 7:21 Small need for sleep 8:37 The impossibility of cholesterol growth 9:40 SUMMARY - Studying the gene LRP5 (responsible for the mineralization of bones), scientists discovered mutations which cause diseases accompanied by bone fragility. Yet there is another type of LRP5 mutation: it gives a person super dense bones that are almost impossible to break and skin that is less prone to aging. Such bones are several times tougher than those of an average person. - On the surface of every red blood cell, people typically have about 342 antigens, 160 of which can be found in almost everybody. If a person has a lack of at least one of these antigens, their blood is rare. - A recent study has shown that 16 percent of people don't have this thin tendon. It is too weak to affect your grip, and even if it is cut, it won't make any visible changes. - Human chimerism is an additional set of DNA. Sometimes it appears in the form of "mosaic" skin or heterochromia, but most often it remains unnoticed. - Distichiasis usually doesn't bring any inconvenience. People with this unusual feature may have just several sparse hairs growing on one lid or full lines of lashes doubling the ones everybody has. - A hole near the ear is a congenital auricular fistula, formed during fetal development, occurring in about 5% of people. In fact, in the USA less than 1 percent of people have them, in Asia and some parts of Africa this figure is higher - from 5 to 10 percent. - Every adult out of 500 individuals has an extra rib. While all the other people have two dozens, these "lucky" ones can have 25 or even 26 ribs in their body. "Excessive" ribs are more often found in women. - With a dandelion, we describe its color as yellow. A tetrachromatic person will see a whole range of shades. This condition is caused by the mutations in the X chromosome. This difference allows people to see up to 99 million colors, while an ordinary person perceives not more than 1 million. - The DEC2 gene is a small mutation found in low-sleep people. Scientists from the University of California concluded that people with the DEC2 mutation could perform all the same tasks in less time. Can you imagine, having just 4 hours of sleep daily, you will get 60 days of free time a year! - There's a tiny group of lucky people who can eat almost anything without worrying about cholesterol. Their risk of developing heart disease is reduced by as much as 90%. While an average American is straining to reach a perfect result of fewer than 100 milligrams of "bad cholesterol" per deciliter of blood, people with this mutation have about 15! What shouldn't you throw in a toilet? 🚽 Plumbers discover plastic bottles, bricks, and even clothes there. Of course, you and I won’t try to flush down such things down the toilet. But who would have thought that even the most harmless things like dental floss or toilet paper can end up clogging a pipe?

The information on the pack saying that toilet paper is safe to flush down the toilet is, most of the time, just a marketing ploy. In fact, such paper takes several hours to dissolve, which is more than enough time to form a clog.
There is a simple way to find out if toilet paper will dissolve. Put pieces of toilet paper into a glass of cold water. If you still see big pieces 5–10 minutes later, it means that you can’t throw this toilet paper into the toilet. But if the pieces are almost impossible to notice, it means that you can believe the manufacturer.

TIMESTAMPS:
Toilet paper 0:50
Dental floss 2:15
Chewing gum 2:51
Fish 3:19
Band-Aids 4:12
Contact lenses 4:29
Cat feces 5:15
Chlorine bleach 5:36
Face masks 6:08
Tea leaves 6:35
Plastic bags 6:51
Products that say you can throw them down the toilet 7:20

SUMMARY:
- In different countries, people have different attitudes toward the problem of toilet paper disposal. Traveler Matt Kitson created an entire website where he tells you about the countries where you shouldn’t do this.
- Dental floss may seem harmless when it comes to dumping it down the toilet. However, it is made of fibrous material, which is why it can pile up inside pipes and form clogs.
- Chewing gum doesn’t dissolve in water, and it can also stick to pipes and form a clog. This is why you should never get rid of gum this way.
- In Canada, the authorities have asked citizens not to throw live fish down the toilet because when they eventually reach a pond, they kill the local fish.
- A regular Band-Aid that covers your battle wounds so well is made of a lot of different things: fats, wax, rubber, and other ingredients. Such a “cocktail” obviously doesn’t dissolve in water and can clog the pipes in your house.
- Сontact lenses are made of polymers that don’t decompose for many years. Of course, a tiny lens probably won’t block a pipe, but it will definitely harm the environment.
- Experts don’t recommend throwing away cat litter. After a few hours, the litter will solidify and get stuck somewhere in the pipe.
- Chlorine-based detergents are very aggressive, so aggressive that they can damage the pipes if you use them too often.
- Clay-based face masks should not be washed down the toilet. The small particles will eventually pile up on the inside of the pipes and create a huge clog.
- Despite the fact that tea leaves seem small and completely harmless, they’re actually not. Over time, tea leaves pile up inside the pipes and form clogs that are very hard to remove.
- Even the smallest pieces of plastic bags can be dangerous: they form clogs, and, of course, they are really dangerous to the environment.
- The information on the pack saying that toilet paper is safe to flush down the toilet is, most of the time, just a marketing ploy.
