George Henry: A collection of 158 paintings (HD) Description: "Henry was born in Irvine, North Ayrshire, and studied at the Glasgow School of Art, later in Macgregor's studio, but learned most from his nature studies at Kirkcudbright. His father's name was Hendry and George dropped the "d" from his surname as a young man. He was influenced also by his collaboration with E. A. Hornel in such works as "The Druids" (1887), Grosvenor Gallery, London. His "Galloway Landscape" was epoch-making at Glasgow by reason of its higher key of colour and essentially decorative character. Following these tendencies, the two friends spent a year and a half in Japan. Henry's importance consists in his influence in the Glasgow school in the direction of richer and more decorative color. In addition to genre and landscape, he also painted portraits, more distinguished by technical ability than by rendition of character. Henry's pictures in public collections include "The Blue Gown," Museum of Cape Town, "The Gray Hat," at Edinburgh, two portraits at Glasgow, and one at Montreal. He was elected a member of the Royal Scottish Academy (1902) and an associate of the Royal Academy. "The Black Hat", a luminous portrait of a supremely confident Edwardian woman, was recently included in Modern Britain, an exhibition at Melbourne's National Gallery of Victoria. In 1893 he went to Japan with Edward Atkinson Hornel another of the Glasgow Boys for an 18-month study tour. His work thereafter continued to have a strong Oriental flavour." --- MUSIC: Kevin MacLeod - Meditation Impromptu 01 Meditation Impromptu 01 by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1100163 Artist: http://incompetech.com/ - Kevin MacLeod - Meditation Impromptu 02 Meditation Impromptu 02 by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1100162 Artist: http://incompetech.com/ - Kevin MacLeod - Meditation Impromptu 03 Meditation Impromptu 03 by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1100161 Artist: http://incompetech.com/ SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: LearnFromMasters01@gmail.com SUPPORT MY WORK AT: https://www.patreon.com/LearnFromMasters LIST OF ARTISTS already posted on LearnFromMasters: https://goo.gl/hri4HE --- Thank you so much for your support!
Kees van Dongen: A collection of 290 works (HD) Description: "Kees van Dongen was born on January 1, 1877, in Delfshaven near Rotterdam. Early in his artistic endevours, he was inspired by the Impressionists and influenced by their style. Van Dongen studied at the academy of Rotterdam but did not finish his studies there. He earned his livelihood working for the magazines "Groene" and "Rotterdam Neusblad." His racy drawings of life around the habor were published with great scandal. In 1897, he went to Paris, where he lived in Bateau-Lavoir. There he worked as an illustrator for "Revoue Blanche" and "L'assiette au Beurre." In 1903, van Dongen exhibited his works publicly for the first time, and later he showed with Matisse in the Vollard Gallery. The Dutch painter became associated with the group "Fauves" (wild beasts) in 1905. Nonetheless, his affinity for the German Expressionists can be recognized in his works. Indicative of his work is the intense use of color, which increased the expressiveness of his paintings. In 1908, he became a member of the group of German Expressionists "Die Brücke" (the Bridge) and exhibited with them. At the end of World War I, van Dongen was discovered by the upperclass. He then painted many portraits, becoming a chronicler of the 1920's and 1930's. His expressive portraits, likenesses, and landscapes received much appreciation and achieved success through his unique coloring. Kees van Dongen died on May 28, 1968, in Monte Carlo." --- MUSIC: Kevin MacLeod - Almost in F - Tranquillity Almost in F - Tranquillity by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1100394 Artist: http://incompetech.com/ SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: LearnFromMasters01@gmail.com SUPPORT MY WORK AT: https://www.patreon.com/LearnFromMasters LIST OF ARTISTS already posted on LearnFromMasters: https://goo.gl/hri4HE --- Thank you so much for your support!

Isaac Grünewald: A collection of 201 works (HD)
Description: "Painter, Illustrator, teacher and designer of scenes Swedish born in Stockholm on September 2, 1888 and died in Oslo, on May 22, 1946. He was a founding member, along with Tor Bjurstrøm (1888-1938) and Leander Engström (1886-1927), of the Group of artists known as the young ('De Unga'), circle of painters who spread the influence of Matisse and CezanneFrench teachers in Sweden.
He studied art at the school Konstnarforbund of Stockholm between 1905 and 1908. Influenced by the atmosphere of creative freedom and admiration for French painting who lived in Sweden in the first quarter of the 20th century, due largely to the work of the Federation of artists, Grunewald moved to Paris. There he studied in the Studio of his admired Matisse between 1908 and 1911. The influence of the French Fauvist master was instrumental in the formation of vivid color palette that will distinguish the work of Swedish artist; This influence was not limited only to the years of his teaching, but it lasted until the end of the Decade of the 1920s.
Together with Matisse, the figure of Paul Cézanne is the other pillar on which rests the vigorous work of Grunewald. If Matisse conferred a colors his work, Cezanne contributed geometrical rigour in drawing, the decomposition of natural forms to simple accused geometric forms. The exhibition held in Stockholm on 3 March 1909 and that led by youth title, meant part of the Constitution's circle of artists with common aesthetic interests, Sweden to enter the modern current. August Brunius critic that I coined the term was the men of 1909 to refer to the Group of Swedish artists who influenced by Matisse and Cezanne, they were a novelty in the plastic panorama of the country. The Group had as a binder the influence of both French masters but had a wide geographical dispersion. In Stockholm were Leander Engström (1886-1927) and Sigrid Hjertën (1885-1948), the latter had contracted marriage with Grunewald in 1911. Next to the known as the phalanx of Stockholm also participated artists like Tor Bjurstrøm (1888-1966), Birger Simonsson (1882-1938), Gösta Sandels (1887-1919), known as the phalanx of Gothenburg, characterized by its more lyrical style. In 1912 was disbanded the group, then forming a new core of artists known as the eight (of' atta').
Isaac Grünewald contribution to the young exposure consisted of 8 works: two lifes, two portraits that reflect the influence of Matisse, two marine and two compositions executed on wall tables and constituted his first experience as a scenic Designer. In this creative aspect, Grunewald developed, among others, the decoration for the premiere of the Samson and Delilah work in Stockholm Kungliga Theatre in 1921. His work received recognition in several international contests of art, like the Prix of the Paris Salon, received on 29 October 1926 for his make-up work Bronja. Also it taught, between 1932 and 1942 at the Academy of fine arts in Stockholm and from 1942 until his death in a plane crash in 1946, in his own workshop. Some of his most famous works are: Portrait of Ivan in an armchair (1915, Stockholm's modern art museum) and bullfighting (1917, Norrköping Art Museum)."
