Pablo Picasso: A collection of 855 works (HD)

Pablo Picasso: A collection of 855 works (HD) Description: "Pablo Picasso was the most dominant and influential artist of the first half of the twentieth century. Associated most of all with pioneering Cubism, alongside Georges Braque, he also invented collage and made major contributions to Symbolism and Surrealism. He saw himself above all as a painter, yet his sculpture was greatly influential, and he also explored areas as diverse as printmaking and ceramics. Finally, he was a famously charismatic personality; his many relationships with women not only filtered into his art but also may have directed its course, and his behavior has come to embody that of the bohemian modern artist in the popular imagination. It was a confluence of influences - from Paul Cézanne and Henri Rousseau, to archaic and tribal art - that encouraged Picasso to lend his figures more structure and ultimately set him on the path towards Cubism, in which he deconstructed the conventions of perspective that had dominated painting since the Renaissance. These innovations would have far-reaching consequences for practically all of modern art, revolutionizing attitudes to the depiction of form in space. Picasso's immersion in Cubism also eventually led him to the invention of collage, in which he abandoned the idea of the picture as a window on objects in the world, and began to conceive of it merely as an arrangement of signs that used different, sometimes metaphorical means, to refer to those objects. This too would prove hugely influential for decades to come. Picasso had an eclectic attitude to style, and although, at any one time, his work was usually characterized by a single dominant approach, he often moved interchangeably between different styles - sometimes even in the same artwork. His encounter with Surrealism, although never transforming his work entirely, encouraged not only the soft forms and tender eroticism of portraits of his mistress Marie-Therese Walter, but also the starkly angular imagery of Guernica (1937), the century's most famous anti-war painting. Picasso was always eager to place himself in history, and some of his greatest works, such as Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907), refer to a wealth of past precedents - even while overturning them. As he matured he became only more conscious of assuring his legacy, and his late work is characterized by a frank dialogue with Old Masters such as Ingres, Velazquez, Goya, and Rembrandt." --- SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: LearnFromMasters01@gmail.com --- Thanks for all support!

Berthe Morisot: A collection of 302 works (HD)

Berthe Morisot: A collection of 302 works (HD) Description: "Berthe Morisot (January 14, 1841 – March 2, 1895) was a French Impressionist painter. Born in Bourges, Cher, France into a successful bourgeois family who encouraged her and her sister Edma Morisot in their exploration of art, she demonstrated the possibilities for women artists in avant-garde art movements at the end of the 19th century. Once Morisot settled on pursuing art, her family did not impede her career. By age 20, she met and befriended the important landscape painter of the Barbizon school, Camille Corot, who introduced her to other artists and teachers. She took up plein air techniques and painted small pieces outdoors either as finished works or as studies for larger works completed in the studio. Morisot's first acceptance in the Salon de Paris came in 1864 with two landscape paintings, and she continued to show regularly in the Salon until 1874, the year of the first impressionist exhibition. She was acquainted with Edouard Manet from 1868, and in 1874 she married Eugene Manet, Edouard's younger brother. She convinced Manet to attempt plein air painting, and drew him into the circle of acquaintance of the painters who became known as the impressionists. However, he never considered himself an impressionist or agreed to show with the group. Morisot, along with Camille Pissarro, was one of only two artists whose work exhibited in all of the original impressionist shows. Like Mary Cassatt, during her lifetime, Berthe Morisot was relegated to the category of "feminine" artists because of their usual subject matter — women, children, and domestic scenes. However, as a doctrinaire impressionist, Morisot painted what she saw in her immediate, everyday life. As a woman securely in the "haute bourgeoisie" she saw domestic interiors, holiday spots, other women, and children. Without exception, her subject matter shows the equivalent of that of her impressionist colleagues. Edgar Degas, the dandy male bourgeois, painted rehearsals of the ballet, horse races, and nude women in apartments (rather than studios). Claude Monet painted his garden, his children, and his neighbor's haystacks. Female impressionists painted their social milieu in a way consistent with the impressionist approach to subject matter. Berthe Morisot died in Paris and was interred in the Cimetière de Passy. Today, her paintings can sell for more than $4 million." --- SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: LearnFromMasters01@gmail.com --- Thanks for all support!

Samuel Peploe: A collection of 270 paintings (HD)

Samuel Peploe: A collection of 270 paintings (HD) Description: "Born in Edinburgh in 1871 and educated at the Collegiate School in Charlotte Square, Samuel John Peploe had good academic ability but no interest in the professions, preferring to walk, sail or sketch. By 1893 he was enrolled for classes in The Trustees' Academy, the forerunner of Edinburgh College of Art, and the following year was in Paris at the Academie Julian under the neo-classicist William Bouguereau, and later at the Academie Colarossi. Long study nurtured his natural ability and helped him perfect an early style based on the Dutch masters. From 1901, Peploe began a lifelong habit of taking painting trips to northern France and to the Hebrides, with J D Fergusson. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Scottish Academy, and the Royal Glasgow Institute from 1900 and had his first one-man show at the Scottish Gallery in 1903. By 1906 his earlier still life and figure paintings, characterised by dark backgrounds, gave way to paler colours, greys and pinks. This was in part due to a move to a new, lighter studio in York Place. His second exhibition in 1909 was successful but his eyes were turning to Paris and the next year he moved and married Margaret MacKay whom he had met on a painting trip to Barra in 1894. France liberated his palette as evidenced by Fauvist panels painted in Royan (1910), Cassis (1911, 1913) and in Paris. His stuido paintings show the influence of Van Gogh and de Segonzac. The Peploes came back to Edinburgh in 1912 with dozens of paintings much too advanced for Edinburgh. Rejected by his old dealer, Peploe put on his own show a the New Gallery in Shandwick Place, where the Society of Eight had their inaugural exhibition in the same year. For the next fifteen years Peploe retained a brilliant palette, evolving a mature style containing elements of Cezanne, the Jazz Age and Matisse. By the late 1920's he had reverted to a more sonorous, tonal painting, still enlivened by brilliant colour chords, but weightier and cooler. In 1933 he taught two terms at the College of Art in Edinburgh, making a considerable impact. Best known for his still lifes of tulips, Peploe had a wide range of subjects including figure painting and particularly landscape. Moise Kisling: A collection of 292 works (HD)

Description: "Moïse Kisling was a French-Polish painter best known for his highly stylized, unsettling portraits. Born on January 22, 1891 in Kraków, Austria-Hungary, he moved to Paris in 1910 where he established himself as an artist. He rented a studio in the district of Montmarte and gained contact with contemporary Parisian ex-pat painters, notably including Jules Pascin and Amedeo Modigliani. His oeuvre includes landscapes, nudes, and portraiture, all painted in his unique style: blocky, bold, simplistic environments containing stylistically exaggerated figures with wide-set limbs and eyes. Kisling died on April 29, 1953 in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France and a substantial portion of his works are housed in the Musée du Petit Palais in Geneva, Switzerland."
