2018 Honda Amaze is literally an all-new car and now comes with a Diesel Automatic option. The 2018 Honda Amaze is India's first Diesel CVT Automatic car and watch the review to understand more about the car. 2018 Honda Amaze Diesel CVT Automatic Review. Honda Amaze launch in India, HOnda Amaze price in india.
In terms of exterior features, you get headlamps flanked with LED position lamps, nicely angled front bumper which doesn’t feel too flat, Honda’s signature solid wing face with a chunky chrome garnish for the grille and chrome even above the headlamps, front fog lamps, 15” aluminum alloy wheels, C-chaped tail lamps, shark fin antenna, LED turn indicators on ORVMs, blackened B pillar, request sensor on door handle and strong shoulder lines. You can buy the Amaze in red, white, silver, golden brown & grey colour options. The Radiant Red Metallic is the theme colour for the new Amaze. Once you step inside, you are pleased to not that what’s good outside, is great inside as well. The all-new dashboard layout brings a breath of fresh air In Honda showrooms. Nearly all Honda cars had started looking the same once you get in. The new Amaze has a good balance of black & beige with matte black and piano finish thrown in to break the monotony. The steering wheel of the new Amaze is completely different, and now along with Audio controls, Honda is also offering cruise control for this compact sedan. The instrument console is a twin-pot display area with a digital MID in between showcasing a host of data to keep the driver updated. Centre console now sports a touchscreen AVN system which also has apple car play and android auto. Stereo quality was decent as per segment standards. You get automatic climate control on the Amaze and thanks to the compressor size being increased, the cabin remains cool at all times. Even the air flow can be directed well towards occupants. Seats are much better than before and the driver position gives a decent view of things around. A driver armrest could have been a thoughtful addition. In the rear seat, me being 5’8’’, I was comfortable behind my own driving position. Cars in this category don’t have much to harp about in terms of backseat space, but for 2 adults at the back, things are good along with an occasional 5th occupant. No rear AC vents, but a charging point available. The new Amaze though is providing more head clearance, shoulder room knee clearance and leg room compared to the old Amaze. The 65mm additional wheelbase has helped in this department. There’s also ample storage spots all around the car to place oddities. Yes, top trims come with the recent craze, an engine start stop button. Powering the new 2018 Honda Amaze are familiar 1.2L petrol and 1.5L Diesel engine options. However, both motors have been reworked for better efficiency. The 1.2L 4-cylinder petrol motor produces 90 PS of power @ 6000 RPM and 110 Nm of torque @ 4800 RPM. Engine comes matched to a 5-speed manual or 7-step CVT automatic gearbox. The 1.5L i-DTEC Diesel engine produces 100 PS of power @ 3600 RPM and 200 Nm of torque @ 1750 RPM matched to a 5-speed manual or a 7-step CVT gearbox. But interestingly, the diesel motor is detuned for the CVT automatic. The 2018 Honda Amaze diesel CVT produces 80 PS of power @ 3600 RPM and 160 Nm of torque @ 1750 RPM. That’s a full 20 PS & 40 Nm lower, which will surely reflect when driving enthusiastically. Honda claims that the new Amaze diesel can deliver 27.4 kmpl mileage in manual and 23.8 kmpl mileage in the CVT automatic gearbox. Driving the Manual variants, the petrol is pretty predictable with nothing superlative to talk about. The diesel manual though with the lighter weight of the new car is super fun to drive. The engine feels very punchy and is eager to be pushed hard. The CVT variants are best driven in sedate fashion of course, due to the rubber band effect. But on a positive note, the car does make swift progress so you don’t have to bear the engine whine for long. Push it for a few seconds and then relax. So let’s talk about how does all this add up. Driving on an all-new platform, the new Honda Amaze is more rigid & stable compared to the old care. With high tensile steel being used extensively, the Honda Amaze has improved in nearly all aspects compared to the outgoing model. The wheelbase is up by 65mm, ground clearance in increased to 170mm, steering shaft size is up from 22 to 33, wheel size is up from 14 to 15 inches, damper angle changes and suspension geometry changes now make the new Amaze feel more planted. Compared to the Dzire, the new Amaze is heavy, and does feel more stable on high speeds. NVH levels have been improved by a huge margin. While the petrol variants had less to compliant about, the diesel Amaze now has a much quieter cabin than before. Better sound deadening material along with changes to the engine have resulted in this noise reduction.
The 2nd generation Honda Amaze has now arrived in style. It looks the part, has good space and comfort, offers lots of features, is efficient and packs in nice performance.
The Honda Amaze now comes across as a very promising car and it has all it takes to set the compact sedan segment on fire. The Amaze competes with the Maruti Dzire, Tata Tigor, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Aspire and Volkswagen Ameo.
