Alfred de Breanski Sr.: A collection of 105 paintings (HD)

Alfred de Breanski Sr.: A collection of 105 paintings (HD) Description: "Alfred de Breanski Senior was a distinguished landscape painter who became famous for his resplendent views of the Welsh and Scottish Highlands; he also painted many views of the Thames. Often bathed in a flood of golden light, these landscapes usually feature water and cattle or sheep on grassy banks; sometimes a solitary figure is seen the distance. Bréanski belonged to the real stamp of those landscape painters who nimbly seized moments of the day. He had a great passion for the Highlands and perhaps more than any other, caught the atmospheric influences of the undulating landscape. Born in London, Alfred was the eldest son of Leopold Bréanski; his younger brother and sister, Gustave and Julie, were also painters. He made his debut at the Royal Academy in 1872 and he continued to exhibit there until 1918. He also exhibited at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Cambrian Academy. His many patrons included Sir James Lemon and the Bishop of Peterborough, who purchased the first picture that he exhibited at the Royal Academy “Evening: Softly falls the even light”. In 1873, Bréanski married Annie Roberts, a talented Welsh artist whom he met during his frequent painting trips to Wales. They had seven children, two of which, Alfred Fontville and Arthur, were both to become painters. For much of his life Bréanski lived in Greenwich, Lewisham and Cookham and in 1880 he became a Freeman of the City of London." --- SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: LearnFromMasters01@gmail.com SUPPORT MY WORK AT: https://www.patreon.com/LearnFromMasters LIST OF ARTISTS already posted on LearnFromMasters: https://goo.gl/hri4HE --- Thank you so much for your support!

Gaston La Touche: A collection of 116 works (HD)

Gaston La Touche: A collection of 116 works (HD) Description: "Gaston La Touche, a self-taught artist, became a famous and successful French painter and printmaker. From childhood he was determined to be a painter and was supported in this ambition by his well-to-do parents. He admired Zola and provided drypoint illustrations for his novel L'Assommoir (1879). His first paintings (1880s) were domestic scenes in the style of the Dutch 17th century. They were vigorous, harsh and sombre and met with no success: he burnt most of them in 1891. The influence of his friend Felix Bracquemond prompted him to discard his early style and to use the colours favoured by the Impressionists; his brushwork is characterized by small, petal-like strokes of colour. In 1890 he showed Phlox and Peonies (untraced), both colourful scenes of women, children and flowers, at the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts, which brought him immediate success. His fetes galantes and singeries recall French 18th-century art, and he also specialized in Breton subjects, such as Pardon in Brittany (1896; Chicago, IL, Art Institute). He was elected a member of the Societe National des Beaux Arts in 1890, having already been a member of the Societaire des Artistes Francais since 1883. He received numerous medals at these societies, as well as at the Exposition Universelles in 1889 and 1900. After receiving the Legion d'honneur in 1900 (he was later awarded the great honour of being elected an ‘officer’ of this select band), La Touche was given several official commissions for large-scale decorative schemes. These included four views of fetes at Versailles (never installed) for the Palais d'Elysee (1906; Paris, Pal. Luxembourg), four decorative panels showing landscapes with figures (untraced) for the Ministere de l'Agriculture, four pictures representing the arts (never installed) for the Ministere de la Justice (exhibited Salon 1910; Paris, Pompidou) and decorations for the dining room of the liner La France (executed 1912; destroyed in the 1930s). Glowing colours and broad brushstrokes characterize these large canvases, reminiscent of the work of such 18th-century artists as Hubert Robert and Jean-Honore Fragonard. In 1908 La Touche exhibited over 300 works at the Galerie Georges Petit in Paris. He painted murals, c. 1910, for the house of the dramatist Edmond Rostand at Cambo, Pyrenees-Atlantiques. His paintings are represented in many important collections, including the Museums of Alencon, Le Mans, and most importantly the Museum of Modern Art in Paris." --- MUSIC: Kevin MacLeod - Meditation Impromptu 01 Meditation Impromptu 01 by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1100163 Artist: http://incompetech.com/ SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: LearnFromMasters01@gmail.com SUPPORT MY WORK AT: https://www.patreon.com/LearnFromMasters LIST OF ARTISTS already posted on LearnFromMasters: https://goo.gl/hri4HE --- Thank you so much for your support!

Willem de Kooning: A collection of 169 works (HD)

Willem de Kooning: A collection of 169 works (HD) Description: "A leading figure of abstract expressionism, Willem de Kooning was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He was apprenticed in 1916 to a local commercial art and decorating firm. For the next eight years de Kooning attended night classes at the Rotterdam Academy, receiving formal training in fine and applied arts. In 1926 de Kooning came to the United States with aspirations of becoming a commercial artist. Settling in New York in 1927, he met John Graham, Arshile Gorky, Stuart Davis, and other important avant-garde artists. In 1935, under the auspices of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) Federal Art Project, de Kooning was able to devote himself fully to painting for the first time. Throughout the 1930s and early 1940s de Kooning produced work in both figurative and abstract styles. His first one-person show in New York in 1948 featured a series of black and white paintings and established his reputation as an abstract painter; however, it was not until 1953, when de Kooning exhibited a controversial group of paintings of women at the Sidney Janis Gallery, that he came to fame. With the notoriety elicited by these provocative images built from slashing brushstrokes and slicing lines, de Kooning’s reputation was secured as a leader of abstract expressionism. In the mid to late 1950s he turned to a series of works featuring the urban landscape and suburban parkways, also abstractions painted with thick, forceful looping strokes. De Kooning’s versatility was also revealed through his explorations in sculpture. While in Rome in 1969, de Kooning began experimenting with small clay sculptures; this work led to the production of large-scale bronze works similar to some of his painted figures in the dynamic push and pull of the forms. After moving to Easthampton in 1963, his primary inspiration came from the Long Island landscape, both the land and the surrounding water. This subject matter allowed him to compose vigorous compositions in which forms emerge and are submerged. Throughout his long career, de Kooning’s art has been featured in numerous national and international exhibitions. De Kooning died in Easthampton in 1997." --- BOOKS about Willem de Kooning: [1] DE KOONING: AN AMERICAN MASTER by Mark Stevens & Annalyn Swan --- https://amzn.to/2FlabNL [2] WILLEM DE KOONING: PAINTINGS 1960-1980 by Ralph Ubl --- https://amzn.to/2RRYbVo [3] WILLEM DE KOONING: THE ARTIST'S MATERIALS by Susan F. Adolphe Monticelli: A collection of 199 paintings (HD)

Adolphe Monticelli: A collection of 199 paintings (HD) Description: "Adolphe-Joseph-Thomas Monticelli, French painter. In 1846, after studying at the Ecole d'Art in Marseille, he left Provence to study in Paris with Paul Delaroche. Although he had been trained to work in a Neo-classical style by his teachers in Marseille, in Paris he admired the Troubadour pictures of such artists as Pierre Révoil and Fleury Richard and the bold colours and rich surface impasto of Delacroix's oil sketches. He also copied many of the Old Masters in the Louvre. When he returned to Marseille in 1847 Emile Loubon (1809-63), newly appointed director of the Ecole de Dessin in Marseille and a friend of many realist landscape painters in Paris, encouraged him and another local painter, Paul Guigou, to record the landscapes and traditional village scenes of Provence (e.g. Rural Scene, Musée Grobet-Labadié, Marseille). The master who was to have the greatest influence over the young Monticelli was Narcisse Virgile Diaz de la Peña, whom he met when he returned to Paris from 1855 to 1856. Monticelli's visits to Paris exposed him to the Rococo Revival, which was being popularised by artists including Diaz, and he started producing scenes of courtly figures in garden settings a la Watteau. This became a favourite subject, and from the 1860s until the end of his career Monticelli treated numerous variations on the theme. The Prussian siege of Paris in 1870 forced Monticelli to return to Marseille. His final sixteen years were his most productive. The vibrant colours and thick, impastic surfaces of his late works struck a responsive chord in the young Vincent Van Gogh, who collected Monticelli's paintings and expressed his indebtedness to the older artist's work. Louis Anquetin: A collection of 82 works (HD)

Description: "Louis Anquetin was regarded as the most promising artist of the 19th century and he was a major influence on other artists of his time and later generations. In Paris, he was a part of a group of artists that included stalwarts like Vincent van Gough, Paul Gauguin, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Emile Bernard and George Seurat. His early work was heavily influenced by ‘Impressionism’ but later, along with Bernard, developed a new method of painting called ‘Cloisonnisme’ that quickly gained him the reputation of an innovator in the Paris art scene. Anquetin never stayed put with any style and throughout his career, he experimented with different styles. This may partly be due to his innovative nature and restless spirit. During his later life, he was largely out of the art scene and after his death, he was nearly forgotten. However, in recent years his works have seen an uprise in interest, particularly his paintings of the mysterious women of the night, a subject that he worked on when he was in Rome. You can know more on this brilliant artist in the biography given below."
