Clarence Gagnon: A collection of 135 works (HD)

Clarence Gagnon: A collection of 135 works (HD) Description: "Clarence Alphonse Gagnon was a painter, draughtsman, engraver and illustrator who was born in Montreal on November 8, 1881. From 1897 to 1900, Gagnon studied drawing and painting under William Brymner at the Art Association of Montreal. In 1904, Gagnon left for Paris to work in the studio of Jean-Paul Laurens at the Académie Julian. He was able to distinguished himself early in his career by the fine quality of his engravings. Gagnon won a gold medal at the St. Louis Exhibition in 1904 and an honourable mention at the Salon des artistes français in Paris in 1905. From 1909 to 1914, Gagnon moved between Canada, France, and Norway; always working up the sketches he had made in Quebec. Gagnon became a member of the Royal Society of Canada and in 1910, became an associate member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and a full member in 1922. In 1923, he received the Trevor Prize of the Salmagundi Club of New York. Between 1924 and 1936, Gagnon spent time in Paris and traveled throughout Europe. It was during this period that he illustrated a number of books, including Rouquette's, Le grand silence blanc (1929) and the deluxe edition of Louis Hémon's Maria Chapdelaine (1933), a story that celebrated Canadian frontier life. Upon his return to Quebec in 1936, the Université de Montréal awarded him an honorary doctorate. Clarence Gagnon died in Montreal on January 5, 1942. He was sixty-one years old." --- SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: LearnFromMasters01@gmail.com SUPPORT MY WORK AT: https://www.patreon.com/LearnFromMasters LIST OF ARTISTS already posted on LearnFromMasters: https://goo.gl/hri4HE --- Thank you so much for your support!

Marcel Dyf: A collection of 208 paintings (HD)

Marcel Dyf: A collection of 208 paintings (HD) Description: "Marcel Dyf was a French artist known for his delicate Impressionist landscapes. Born Marcel Dreyfus on October 7, 1899 in Paris, France, the painter spent his childhood in Normandy where he was exposed to new ideas in art-making and was captivated by the work of Pierre-Auguste Renoir. A move to Arles in 1922 solidified his commitment to being an artist, finding further inspiration from the style of Old Masters such as Rembrandt van Rijn and Johannes Vermeer. He traveled extensively to capture his natural scenes, but focused on three French regions in particular—Brittany, Ile de France, and Provence—for his plein air works. Dyf died on September 15, 1985 in Bois-d’Arcy at the age of 85." --- SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: LearnFromMasters01@gmail.com SUPPORT MY WORK AT: https://www.patreon.com/LearnFromMasters LIST OF ARTISTS already posted on LearnFromMasters: https://goo.gl/hri4HE --- Thank you so much for your support!

Joan Miro: A collection of 193 works (HD)

Joan Miro: A collection of 193 works (HD) Description: "Joan Miró was born in Barcelona in 1893, but the emotional landscapes that shaped him as a person and an artist were principally those of Mont-roig, Paris, and Majorca, and later those of New York and Japan. The small town of Mont-roig in the Baix Camp region of Catalonia was a counterpoint to the intellectual ferment of his life with the surrealist poets in 1920s Paris, and to the stimulus of discovering Abstract Expressionism in New York in the forties. Some time later, in the midst of World War II, Joan Miró returned from exile in France and settled in Palma de Mallorca, which became his refuge and workplace and where his friend Josep Lluís Sert designed the studio of his dreams. Miró’s attachment to the landscape of Mont-roig first and then Majorca was crucial in his work. His connection to the land and his interest in everyday objects and in the natural environment formed the backdrop to some of his technical and formal research. Miró avoided academicism in his constant quest for a pure, global art that could not be classified under any specific movement. Self-contained in his manners and public expressions, it is through art that Joan Miró showed his rebelliousness and a strong sensitivity to the political and social events around him. These conflicting forces led him to create a unique and extremely personal language that makes him one of the most influential artists of the 20th century." --- MUSIC: Kevin MacLeod - Danse Morialta Danse Morialta by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1200026 Artist: http://incompetech.com/ SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: LearnFromMasters01@gmail.com SUPPORT MY WORK AT: https://www.patreon.com/LearnFromMasters LIST OF ARTISTS already posted on LearnFromMasters: https://goo.gl/hri4HE --- Thank you so much for your support!

Kyffin Williams: A collection of 333 paintings (HD)

Kyffin Williams: A collection of 333 paintings (HD) Description: "Sir Kyffin Williams was educated at Shrewsbury School and worked as a land agent in Pwllheli from 1936 to 1939. He suffered from epilepsy and was encouraged to take up a 'quiet, undemanding' activity of painting by his doctor. He studied under Schwabe and Allan Gwynne-Jones at the Slade School of Fine Art from 1941 to 1944, which had relocated to Oxford during its wartime evacuation from London. From 1944 to 1973 he was senior art master at Highgate School in London. Williams served as president of the Royal College of Art from 1969 to 1976. He received the OBE in 1982 and was made Deputy Lieutenant for the county of Gwynedd in 1985. He was knighted in 1999. Williams is above all remembered for his paintings of Welsh landscapes and cottages, such as Ysgoldy, Cwm Pennant (1962) and Gwastadnant (1971). Using a palette knife and thick impasto paint applied in blocks of strong colours and contrasting sombre tones, he succeeded in capturing the often turbulent weather on the rugged Welsh landscape. Williams was also a noted portraitist. In 1963 he received a Winston Churchill Fellowship to record the life of the Welsh in Patagonia, an experience which he relates in his autobiography A Wider Sky. He lived in Pwllfanogl, Llanfairpwyll and Gwynedd and retired to Anglesey in 1973. Williams was President of the Royal Cambrian Academy from 1969 to 1976 and again from 1992. He was awarded an honorary MA from University of Wales in 1973. He was a member of the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists." --- BOOKS about Kyffin Williams: [1] KYFFIN WILLIAMS: THE LIGHT AND THE DARK by Rian Evans & Nicholas Sinclair --- https://amzn.to/2RMnVSK [2] PORTRAITS by Kyffin Williams --- https://amzn.to/2JT6Xzk [3] PAINTING THE MOUNTAINTS: KYFFIN WILLIAMS by Lynne Bebb & Carolyn Davies --- https://amzn.to/2RNVJ2a [4] KYFFIN WILLIAMS BRO A BYWYD. Jean Simeon Chardin: A collection of 174 paintings (HD)

Jean-Siméon Chardin: A collection of 174 paintings (HD) Description: "A renowned French artist of the 18th Century, Chardin was well known for his still-life works and genre paintings. His refined and realistic style had a lasting influence on some of the greatest artists of the 19th and 20th Centuries, including Henri Matisse (1869 – 1954) and Paul Cézanne (1839 – 1906). His depictions were of simple subjects, but masterful in their execution, as exemplified by his works now in the Uffizi Gallery, Boy Playing Cards and, Girl with Racket and Shuttlecock. His training was under French history painters, Pierre Jacques Cazes and Noël-Nicolas Coypel (1690 – 1734), though he trained mostly from his own studies. According to the Getty Museum Biography on Chardin the painter got his start executing signposts for tradesmen and detailing the works of other artists. He was documented in 1724 as a member of the Academy of Saint Luc in Paris, but was discovered by Nicolas de Largillière (1656 – 1746), a portrait painter. Largillière recommended Chardin’s entry into the Royal Academy of Painting (Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture) in 1728. The works that garnered his acceptance into the Academy were, La Raie (The Ray) and, The Buffet, displaying his realistic representations and established his nickname as the “painter of animals and fruit.” From here Chardin developed his skill of still-life further and grew a love of painting genre works. The painter’s reputation escalated him into gainful patronage, including a pension from King Louis XV (1710 – 1774). His works continually evolved from simple still-life painting into highly detailed representations of everyday life in French society. After 1770, Chardin began to lose his eyesight, but still progressed as an artist with his adoption of pastel painting. The artist once said of painting, “We use colors, but we paint with our feelings,” and for him still-life subjects had a life of their own. As the 19th/20th Century French novelist, Marcel Proust (1871 – 1922) wrote, "We have learned from Chardin that a pear is as living as a woman, that an ordinary piece of pottery is as beautiful as a precious stone." Proust also wrote of the artist, “Everyday life will charm you once you have absorbed Chardin’s painting for a few days like a lesson. Then, having understood the life of his painting, you will have discovered the beauty of life." --- BOOKS about Jean-Siméon Chardin: [1] CHARDIN by Pierre Rosenberg --- https://amzn.to/2K8o9kv [2] DISCOVERIES: CHARDIN: AN INTIMATE ART by Pierre Rosenberg & Helene Prigent --- https://amzn.to/2ONcoAE [3] CHARDIN by Marianne Roland Michel --- https://amzn.to/2qNA2Ug MUSIC: Kevin MacLeod - Mesmerize Mesmerize by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1500005 Artist: http://incompetech.com/ SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: LearnFromMasters01@gmail.com SUPPORT MY WORK AT: https://www.patreon.com/LearnFromMasters LIST OF ARTISTS already posted on LearnFromMasters: https://goo.gl/hri4HE --- Thank you so much for your support! #LearnFromMasters #FrenchPainter #BaroqueMovement #OnlineArtGallery #CollectionOfPaintings #OilPaintings #ArtHistory #JeanSimeonChardin
