The Porsche Cayenne has been out for 16 years and now is set to be released as the third generation. This 5-passenger utility vehicle has the perfect balance of space, power, design and prestige to make it one of the best, if not the best utility on the road. The Cayenne will originally arrive in dealerships late summer 2018 as the base Cayenne with a 3.0L turbo V6 putting out 340hp, Cayenne S with a 2.9L Turbo V6 with 440hp or the Cayenne Turbo with a 550hp 4.0L turbo V8. The design of the all-new 2019 Porsche Cayenne isn't radical, in fact it is a rather basic change from the last model. It has grown ever so slightly in length and wheelbase but from the front it looks similar. The back is the most distinct with a new light bar that connect the two rear cluster lamps, similar the Panamera and a reference to older Carrera models. The interior now has a 12.3-inch centre screen and two TFT screens behind the steering wheel but the overall design remains the same. The all-new Porsche Cayenne will arrive in the summer of 2018 as a 2019 model. 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo in Moonlight Blue Metallic color. The 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo took its place at the top of the model line at the 67th Frankfurt International Motor Show. The new model from the third-generation Cayenne range is once again raising the bar for sporty performance in the segment. Its twin-turbo four-liter V8 engine delivers 550 hp. The combination of innovations including a three-chamber air suspension, staggered tire sizes and new high-performance Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB) technology result in improved driving dynamics. With additional options, such as rear-axle steering and electric roll stabilization with a 48-volt system, the SUV achieves the driving characteristics of a sports car. The new Cayenne Turbo accelerates from zero to 60 mph in as little as 3.7 seconds when equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package toward a top track speed of 177 mph, representing gains over the previous-generation Cayenne Turbo S. With an exclusive front end and the LED main headlights of the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), the Cayenne Turbo has a dominant appearance. At night, the new Turbo sets itself apart from other Cayenne models with its double-row front light modules. Widened wheel arches with painted trim and special 21-inch wheels reserved for the Cayenne Turbo characterize the side view. Turbo-specific twin tailpipes distinguish this model from its six-cylinder siblings. Interior design elements including the center-mounted grab handles continue in the third-generation Cayenne Turbo. Like other members of the new Cayenne family the newest model features the Porsche Advanced Cockpit, which includes a high-definition 12.3-inch screen in the dashboard and an analog tachometer flanked by two seven-inch full-HD screens. Virtually all of the vehicle functions can be displayed and operated using the high-resolution display and touchscreen of the Porsche Advanced Cockpit. Among them, for example, is the standard 710-watt BOSE® Surround Sound System. Other equipment newly included by default in the latest Cayenne Turbo includes 18-way sport seats, seatbacks with integrated headrests, and standard heating functions for all outboard seats as well as the steering wheel. At the heart of the Cayenne Turbo is the twin-turbo four-liter V8 with 550 hp and 567 lb-ft of peak torque (increases of 30 hp and 14 lb-ft versus the previous Cayenne Turbo). Standard Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive works with the new eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission to improve acceleration, speed, and highway cruising comfort. The new Cayenne Turbo exceeds the previous Cayenne Turbo S in many areas. For example, it sprints to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds (or 3.7 seconds when equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package, 0.1 second quicker than the previous Cayenne Turbo S) and boasts a higher top track speed of 177 mph. The turbochargers are arranged inside the cylinder V, in a "central turbo layout." The shortened exhaust paths between the combustion chambers and the turbochargers improve engine responsiveness and power delivery. This setup also creates a more compact package that is advantageous because it allows for a lower engine installation that helps to lower the center of gravity for improved handling characteristics. The Porsche Cayenne will be arriving with the third generation in the fall of 2018 as a base Cayenne, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo. The most complex and interesting is the upcoming Cayenne S E-Hybrid. This model has 462hp and 516lb.-ft. of torque from both the 3.0L turbo V6 and a 14.1kwh battery. This new Porsche can run on electric power for up to 44km before reverting back to a seamless hybrid system. The Hybrid system uses a conventional 9-speed automatic and power goes to all four wheels. This new Cayenne is quick too, a run to 100km/h takes juts 5 second almost a full second faster than the previous version. Just like all the other Cayenne models, the S E-Hybrid can be equipped with air suspension, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control and Active Rear Steering. The Cayenne is the best family choice in the Porsche lineup as it offers plenty of room for a family compared to the rather small Macan. The price os this electrified model is roughly $92,000, the same as the regular turbo S model.

Efficient driving in smart Hybrid Auto mode
The new smart Hybrid Auto mode enables the most efficient operation of the Cayenne E-Hybrid in city and intercity traffic. For the ideal combination of electric and combustion engines, the drive control calculates the optimum operating strategy based on driving profile, charge status, topology and speed information. Depending on these conditions, the system selects electric-only driving for situations where it makes most sense in terms of overall efficiency. When a destination is actively programmed into the navigation system, distance from the destination is also taken into account. Depending on the distance yet to be covered, the battery will charge efficiently at higher speeds by shifting the load point.
The driver decides: E-Hold and E-Charge
The driver can manually set the hybrid drive's operating mode using the PCM's Hybrid menu. There, the E-Hold and E-Charge functions can be selected directly as an alternative to Hybrid Auto mode. While the Hybrid Auto mode strives for the most efficient electric driving to minimise consumption, E-Hold mode ensures that the battery's current charge status is deliberately maintained. This energy is then available at a later stage for electric driving or boosting. In the E-Charge mode, the battery is charged while driving using the combustion engine. By shifting the load point, the driver is able to increase the electric range in advance in order to use it in a specific way at a later stage, for example, in an urban environment.
Drives like a sports car: Sport and Sport Plus
The efficiency-focused E-Power and Hybrid Auto modes are only one side of the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid. The driver can experience the other side at the touch of a button in the performance-focused Sport and Sport Plus modes, thanks to the Sport Chrono Package available as standard. The Sport mode offers the classic features of a Porsche car for speedy journeys on roads and motorways. The drive and chassis switch to a sporty setting. The battery's charge status is kept to a minimum level required to provide sufficient boost potential for sports driving at any time. In Sport Plus, the focus is on maximum sports performance. The drive and chassis are in a performance setting. In the Cayenne E-Hybrid, the Sport Plus also differs from the Sport mode in that the battery charges faster. This enables more frequent boosting for longer. In both modes, the combustion engine remains in operation. In Sport Plus mode, the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid reaches its maximum speed of 253 km/h.
