7 Driving Habits That Ruin Your Car and Drain Your Wallet

How to drive a car easily and safely? How to brake smoothly? Here are a few simple driving hacks and secrets you should know to drive your car like a pro. Have you already been driving for many years or are you just starting to drive? This activity can be both exciting and exhausting. Of course, firstly it depends on road conditions. However, there is one more important thing to be considered while driving – the behavior of your car. The longer you own a car; the more driving habits you acquire. Unfortunately, not all of those habits are good ones. Moreover, the more experienced you become, the harder it is to break them. And very often those habits can affect the condition of your car. We decided to compile examples of unwise driving behavior. TIMESTAMPS Resting your hand on the gear stick 1:09 Refueling only when the tank is almost empty 2:13 Frequent braking 3:04 Ignoring suspicious sounds 4:26 Neglecting to use the hand brake 5:50 Running a cold engine at high revs 6:34 Keeping your foot on the brake while driving downhill 7:17 SUMMARY - Whether you own an automatic or a manual car, a transmission that is not working correctly can cause serious problems both under the hood and out on the road. Moreover, transmissions are very complex, they have many moving parts, ignoring this bad habit can easily bring you to huge expenses for a transmission repair. - The dirt gets into the filters and the pump causing damage. The purpose of the latter is to get fuel from the fuel tank and deliver it according to the demand of the engine. During winter months, be sure to always leave the tank at least half-filled with fuel to avoid the formation of large amounts of condensate. - To avoid unpleasant accidents, remember to promptly change the brake hoses and keep your eye on the brake fluid level. Keep in mind that braking is another skill to be mastered; it takes a certain skill level to do it correctly. - Please use the following steps to safely move your vehicle away from the highway and to avoid the possible danger. Firstly, pull over to a safe spot. Don’t hesitate to ask for any possible assistance because the process might not be that easy as it seems. And remember to switch on the hazard lights. If the car has completely broken down and you cannot start it, just push it to a safe place After, try to diagnose the issue. - To successfully park on an incline, hold the foot brake and shift into "park." Then pull the hand brake, and only then slowly release the brake. It doesn’t really matter if your car has a manual or an automatic transmission, car manufacturers recommend the use of the parking brake to immobilize any parked vehicle. - Most modern engines don’t need warming up. However, it is worth remembering that until the gauge indicates operating temperature one shouldn’t run the engine at more than 2,000 revs. In freezing conditions, it is advisable to keep the engine running for 1-2 minutes before pulling away. - The proper thing to do is to shift to a lower gear and initiate engine braking, which helps to reduce the use of normal brakes. It works by reducing the speed of the engine, which means that the speed of the vehicle reduces too. The aim is to prevent the vehicle get a too fast speed, especially while going downhill. 4 Things They Forgot to Tell You In Driving School

How to become a better driver? Even the most experienced drivers don’t always know all the subtleties or nuances that can make driving easier. And most of them are convinced that if they know all the rules of the road, they’ll be ready for any situation that may occur. However, besides these rules, there are others that are no less important. And if you don't follow them, you may get seriously hurt even in a minor accident! Do you know how to figure out if your vehicle’s brake pipes are in good condition? Or why you shouldn't lift your whole foot off the floor when you switch from one pedal to another? Or how to wear your seat belt properly? Well, these things are really worth knowing! TIMESTAMPS: How to adjust your seat properly 0:58 How to check the brake pipes 5:32 How to wear your seat belt properly 6:57 How to switch from one pedal to another properly 8:13 #autos #cardriving #car Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - When you're in the driver's seat, your knees should be slightly bent. If you feel that you need to stretch your leg to reach the gas pedal, move your seat forward. - Your seat should be positioned in such a way that your hips are at the same level as your knees. If you can't clearly see out of all the windows or through the windshield, raise your seat. - The backrest should be reclined at about a 100-degree angle. This is the most comfortable position for your body. - The best way to hold the steering wheel is at 9 and 3. You know, this is when you imagine that your steering wheel is the face of a clock. Put your left hand where the 9 would be on the clock, and your right hand goes on the 3. - You should constantly keep an eye on the state of your brake pipes and brake pads. Even the tiniest crack on a brake hose can result in an accident because you won’t be able to stop the car. - To figure out if your vehicle’s brake pipes are in good condition, touch them. If they’re hard and crack when you try to bend them, they need replacing. - You should also remember that your foot typically stays on the heel when you position it over the accelerator. But when you move it over to the brake pedal, your heel may not be able to touch the floor. - The top strap should cross your chest and collarbone, and the lower strap should go across your hips. Do NOT place it over your belly. - If your car’s seat belts aren’t adjustable, you can always slide the seat further up or back. If nothing helps, get a padded belt cover. 7 Things You Shouldn't Do In an Automatic Transmission Car

Do you drive a car with an automatic transmission? 🚕 The interface of automatic vehicles is often simpler, and new drivers don't have to struggle with a seemingly unruly stick shift and clutch. But there are still some ways you can mess up your transmission. Here are 7 of the most dangerous mistakes you can make when driving an automatic! 📣 TIMESTAMPS: Don't shift from "drive" to "reverse" before your car stops moving 1:06 Never put your car in "park" before it stops completely 1:55 Don't put it in "neutral" at stop lights 2:56 Don't coast in "neutral" 3:53 Never “launch” your car from a standstill 4:44 Avoid keeping the gas tank on low 5:48 Do not let water get in the transmission 6:31 #automatictransmission #drivinghacks #drivingtips Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - If your brakes wear down, replacing them will cost you around $200. But by constantly shifting from "drive" to "reverse" while the car’s still rolling, get ready for damage that can run you at least $2,500. - When you throw it in “park,” a pin locks the transmission output shaft, which connects it to the wheels of your car. But if the car’s still rolling when you do this, either the locking pin or the output shaft may break or become eroded. - It's better to keep your car in "drive" than to switch it to "neutral" when stopped at a light. First of all, when your car’s in "neutral," you don't have as much control over it. So if you need to make some emergency maneuver, you may not be able to execute it in time. - Cars with automatic engines are designed in such a way that they save fuel even if the gear is in "drive." They simply cut the fuel supply when you're going downhill. - Plenty of drivers launch their cars all the time. This causes serious harm to the bands and clutches of the automatic transmission. When you shift, they use friction to move definite parts. - Ignoring the low fuel light may eventually cost you much more than just filling your tank up, especially if your car has an automatic transmission. - If water gets into the transmission, you're in big trouble. Even the smallest amount of water, just an ounce, can wreak havoc on your car’s transmission to the point that it needs replaced. A road-trip with kids 8:46

SUMMARY
- After you find the perfect match, put some on the scratch. After the nail polish dries, just buff the scratch a little to make it smooth.
- To combat such cracks, use clear nail polish. Put 2 or 3 layers on the crack, and it will stop the crack from growing.
- The steering wheel is already too hot to touch! To avoid this, turn the steering wheel by 180 degrees when leaving the car. The part you use to drive will stay in the shadow.
- In order not to get blinded by the sun, take an acrylic sheet and put it on the windshield. Acrylic is easily attached to the windshield thanks to static electricity, and it protects your eyes from ultraviolet rays very well.
- If you've got a long road ahead of you and you are worried that you might get car sick, there is a fantastic solution! You may be surprised, but you just need to put a bay leaf under your tongue.
- Are you one of those people who doesn't know where to put their sunglasses in the car? There is just the place: put them on the sun visor. This way you'll make sure your glasses won't fall on a bumpy road.
- If you are feeling a bit drowsy when driving, put a piece of lemon under your tongue. This will wake you up very quickly. But still, we don't recommend you to drive when you are tired.
- This advice will come in handy to those who find that their cupholder isn't reliable enough. Put a little silicone cupcake case on the bottom of the cupholder. This way, your coffee cup will be secured inside, and all the little pieces of trash will be in the case.
- A tennis ball hanging in the garage can be a point which shows that a wall is near. The ball will help you to feel the car's size more easily, so you won't drive further than necessary.
- Heat the engine for 5-10 minutes, and cut the ignition off. Open the hood, and put a couple of oil drops onto a sheet of paper. Carefully take the sheet in a warm place and wait for 2 hours for the oil to dry.
- Put a drop of gas on a white sheet of paper, blow on it, and wait for the drop to evaporate. If the paper is perfectly white after the experiment, it means that you are using good-quality gas. If there is a greasy spot, it means there is some kerosene in the gas.
- Open a door and one of the front windows. Then open and close the door on the opposite side of the car. Do it a couple of times - this trick helps to cool down the car quickly, and it also gets rid of unpleasant smells easily.
- All you need is a pair of latex gloves. Put them on and rub your gloved hands against the carpet. It will create static electricity which in turn will help pet hair to resurface.
- When the windows in the car start fogging from the inside, you need to cut a potato in two parts. Then rub the potato on the windows from the inside and let them dry.
- Use a shower organizer to keep everything you need on the way, from diapers to bottles with water and some games. Just fix it to the seat in front of you and enjoy your organized ride!
