Georges Lemmen: A collection of 113 works (HD) Description: "Georges Lemmen (Belgian, 1865–1916) was a painter, draftsman, and printmaker associated with the Neo-Impressionist movement. Born in Schaerbeek, Belgium, Lemmen joined the avant-garde movement Les XX in Brussels, a group that consisted of 20 of the most prominent Belgian artists at the time. Les XX hosted annual salons and invited artists from across Europe to show their work. Through these exhibitions, Lemmen became exposed to the artistic developments of his French contemporaries, such as Georges Seurat (French, 1859–1891). Lemmen became heavily influenced by Pointillism, and eventually he developed his own version that consisted of looser swirls of color. His later works became heavily stylized, bearing traces of the Art Nouveau craze that had swept across Europe at the turn of the century. His works are in collections at the Musée d’Orsay and the Louvre in Paris, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York." --- SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: LearnFromMasters01@gmail.com SUPPORT MY WORK AT: https://www.patreon.com/LearnFromMasters LIST OF ARTISTS already posted on LearnFromMasters: https://goo.gl/hri4HE --- Thank you so much for your support!
As we visited the San Diego Museum of Art to analyze some master pieces (Link to last week collaboration with Proko: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrXAtbpkiRY&t=13s ), we decided to sit in front of John Singer Sargent's painting "JOHN ALFRED PARSONS MILLET" to draw it and study it. Copying the masters is a great exercise to find your own style. Some FUN surprise at the end!!! Amedeo Modigliani: A collection of 281 paintings (HD) *Repost Description: "Amedeo Clemente Modigliani (12 July 1884 – 24 January 1920) was an Italian Jewish painter and sculptor who worked mainly in France. There he came into contact with prominent artists such as Pablo Picasso and Constantin Brâncuși. Modigliani's œuvre includes paintings and drawings. From 1909 to 1914, however, he devoted himself mainly to sculpture. His main subject was portraits and full figures of humans, both in the images and in the sculptures. During his life, Amedeo Modigliani had little success, but after his death he achieved greater popularity and his works of art achieved high prices. Maurice Denis: A collection of 324 paintings (HD) Description: "Maurice Denis received a classical education in the Lycée Condorcet where he met Vuillard, Roussel and Lugné-Poë. While studying in the Lycée he took drawing lessons and copied paintings by the old masters. In 1888 he enrolled at the Académie Julian and then at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. In the same year Paul Sérusier showed his friends at the Académie Julian the famous landscape, which he had painted at the suggestion of Gauguin at Pont-Aven and which, for this reason, was considered a "talisman" of Gauguin's doctrine of Synthetism. This was a decisive revelation for Denis who found himself attracted by the new idea of Synthetism and by Gauguin's paintings, which he first saw at the exhibition of the Impressionist and Synthetist Group at the Café Volpini in 1889. Denis joined the Nabis (a Hebrew word meaning 'prophets') and in 1890, in the review Art et Critique, he published his famous article in which he stated the artistic credo of the group. During this period he became associated with the Symbolist writers, illustrating the books of André Gide and Paul Verlaine's Sagesse, and designing front-pieces for Maurice Maeterlinck's Pelléas et Mélisande and for musical scores of Claude Debussy. Like the other Nabis, Denis experimented in various fields of art, designing carpets, painting cartoons for stained-glass and mosaic panels, and decorating ceramics. The 1890s saw his first large-scale decorative works, the painted ceiling in the house of the French composer Chausson (1894) and a cycle of panels on the theme The Legend of St. Hubert (1897) in the house of the collector Cochin. His early work as a painter is marked by originality, though he was strongly influenced by the art of the Italian Renaissance, especially after his trips to Tuscany and Umbria in 1895 and 1897. Though his paintings and mural decorations of subsequent years can now seem rather anaemic and sugary, his fame continued to grow. He received numerous commissions: from 1899 to 1903 he decorated the Church of Sainte-Croix at Vésinet; in 1908 he produced his Eternal Spring for Thomas; and in 1908-9 he was commissioned by Ivan Morozov, Russian industrialist and famous patron of art, to make a series of decorative panels, The Story of Psyche, which he brought to Moscow in January 1909 to install in Morozov's house. In 1913, Denis did ceiling paintings for the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées; in 1917, he worked in the Church of St. Paul at Geneva; in 1924, he decorated the dome of the Petit Palais in Paris; and in 1928, he painted the ceiling above the staircase in the Senate building. Between 1936 and 1939, he did a number of decorative panels for the Palais des Nations in Geneva. In addition to his work as a painter, Denis was one of the most prominent art theoreticians of the time. His articles on contemporary art, published in various magazines, were later collected in Théories (1912) and Nouvelles theories (1922)." --- SUBSCRIBE: www.youtube.com/c/LearnFromMasters?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LearnFromMasters/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+LearnFromMasters Contact: LearnFromMasters01@gmail.com --- Thanks for all support!
Francisco Zuniga: A collection of 160 works (HD)
Description: "Internationally acclaimed sculptor and printmaker Francisco Zuñiga was born in Guadalupe, Costa Rica on December 26, 1912. The son of a religious sculptor and woodcarver, he studied with his father early on before turning to formal education. His attempt to study classical art in Europe was thwarted by the Spanish Civil War, and he traveled instead to Mexico. He studied drawing, stone sculpture, and engraving at the School of Fine Arts in San Jose. Later, in 1936, he studied stone carving at La Esmeralda in Mexico City. He was appointed to the faculty of La Esmeralda where he remained until his retirement in 1970. Zuniga's art reflects a love and respect for Central American people and traditions, and illustrates the beginning of the powerful influence of traditional Mexican and Latin culture on the world of art.
In 1972, he created his first lithograph. As a complement to his emotionally powerful sculpture, Zuniga's prints articulate the sensitivity and sensuality of the human figure- in particular, the strong, powerful figure of the matriarchal female of his cultural heritage.,
Zuniga was the recipient of numerous international prizes and awards. His work is exhibited frequently in prominent galleries throughout the world and may be found in the permanent collections of twenty-nine museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum, the Mexican Museum in San Francisco, and the Phoenix Art Museum. His influence remains far-reaching.
Francisco Zuniga died in Mexico City on August 9, 1998."
